Let’s explore Chicago’s West Loop together

Sep 12, 2021

Looking for the perfect “Date Day” here in the city? Look no further! My husband and I had a rare opportunity to go out for a date day on Sunday in the West Loop and it was the perfect mix of activities when you have a few hours to getaway.

The WNDR Musuem

We started our afternoon at the WNDR Museum. The museum is a completely reimagined take on a traditional museum that is full of cultural, artistic, and thought-provoking exhibits, including an amazing immersive mirror exhibit by iconic Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. We had such a fun time walking through all of the collections and exhibits together. I highly recommend adding this to any kind of date day! It would even be a fun experience for older kiddos! Get tickets here!

Walking around the West Loop/Fulton Market Neighborhoods

While waiting for our early dinner reservation, we decided to walk around the West Loop/Fulton Market area. There are so many shops and bars/restaurants in that area. We were able to kill some time just walking/sightseeing then we popped into Bandit for a pre-dinner cocktail. Other good places to try would be Parlor Pizza, Nobu, or Fox Bar!

Dinner at Trivoli Tavern

We got an early reservation at one of the West Loop’s cutest hidden gems, Trivoli Tavern. It’s located in Gin Alley next to Green Street Smoked Meats. It’s an American restaurant with a quaint English tavern feel. Every single thing we ate was delicious– from the Calamai and Oysters to the Steak Frites and Crab Cake. The warm & inviting, yet intimate atmosphere made it the perfect spot for a date. Other great options in that area are Bar Siena, Au Cheval, and Girl & the Goat.

Ending the Day on a Sweet Note

To end the day, we grabbed a sundae at Cone Gourmet Ice Cream! Other great spots in the area are Bombobar or Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream.

This was such a fun date day from start to finish! If you find yourself with 4-5 hours to spare, head to the West Loop and try it out!
