The exhibition was hailed by The New York Times as “a cleverly immersive experience mounted with the same exacting care as the show itself.”
Hey friends! I’m absolutely thrilled to share some exciting news with you – the much-anticipated Downton Abbey: The Exhibition has finally graced the shores of Lake Michigan, bringing a touch of British aristocracy to our beloved Chicagoland area! As an avid fan of all things British culture, history, and elegance, I couldn’t be more excited to dive into the world of the Crawley family and their entourage!
The Grand Arrival
Picture this: a stunning recreation of the iconic Downton Abbey comes to life right as you step through the doors of the exhibit— you’ll find yourself transported back to the early 20th century, a time when elaborate costumes, lavish banquets, and the ever-loyal staff were the norm. Nestled within the Westfield Old Orchard Mall in Skokie, the exhibition promises an immersive experience that rivals a visit to the actual Highclere Castle. I truly was getting flashback of visiting other stately manors in the English countryside during my visit.
Reliving the Magic
For those who have followed the Crawley family’s ups and downs through six glorious seasons, Downton Abbey: The Exhibition is the perfect opportunity to relive those captivating moments. From the aristocratic dining room to the bustling kitchens below stairs, countless details have been meticulously recreated. You’ll find yourself wandering through the opulent rooms that housed the unforgettable characters we’ve come to adore.
Costumes Fit for Royalty
One of the highlights of the exhibition is undoubtedly the exquisite costumes worn by the characters throughout the series. From Lady Mary’s elegant evening gowns to Mr. Carson’s impeccably tailored suits, each piece has been curated to perfection. Fashion enthusiasts and Downton Abbey devotees alike will revel in the chance to see these garments up close, marveling at the craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into creating the show’s sartorial splendor.

Whether you’re a seasoned Downton Abbey aficionado or introducing the magic of the series to a new generation, the exhibition caters to all. The immersive nature of the experience, combined with the rich historical context, makes it an educational and entertaining outing for families, friends, and solo adventurers alike!
