Have you found yourself with one of those rare days off or an uneventful weekend, wondering what you should do? Well, you could head over to Lincoln Park around Armitage & Halsted for a relaxing afternoon at some of my favorite places. Now, here’s what you do…
COFFEE FROM FOXTROT
First things first: Coffee. There are several spots to grab coffee in the area, but I usually find myself going into Foxtrot and trying their latest seasonal specialty drink— otherwise, they serve a mean iced chai latte.
GRAB DONUTS FROM BEACON DOUGHNUTS
What good is coffee without donuts? My, hands-down, favorite donut shop in the city is Beacon Doughnuts. They’re located in the alleyway at 810 W. Armitage. You really can’t miss it because the entire shop front a beautiful, hand-painted mural. I recommend ordering ahead because they do sell out.
WALK AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD
No matter what time of the year, you really can’t find a prettier neighborhood in the city than Lincoln Park— and I’m not even talking about the beautiful namesake of the neighborhood, the actual Lincoln Park, that overlooks the lake, but even just the quaint, residential streets. I could walk around on them all day, looking at the beautiful and historical homes.
DO SOME SHOPPING AT GORJANA
There are so many cute shops up-and-down Armitage that you could spend a whole day shopping, so I figured I would just share one of my favorites. Gorjana is a gorgeous jewelry boutique that has so many beautiful and trendy pieces. My go-to jewelry pieces are delicate and gold, so Gorjana is dream come true. Other places to check out: Monica & Andy, Art Effect, and if you walk a little further out, you can event pop by Alice & Wonder (#IYKYK).
GET A FACIAL AT OASIS FACE BAR
Now, I’m sure nobody’s surprised that my favorite facial bar is on this list. Oasis has been my go-to since it opened a little over a year ago. They give the best quick, yet quality facials and have wonderful service. I look forward to my monthly visits so much. The owner, Leila, is the sweetest, so definitely tell her I sent you when you go!
GO FOR A MASSAGE AT THE NOW MASSAGE
Another way you can show yourself some self-love would be by booking yourself a 60-minute massage at the NOW Massage. It’s a peaceful, no-fuss massage clinic that offers an array of different massages. I highly recommend the NOW Signature Massage.
GRAB LUNCH AT BLUE DOOR FARM STAND
Of course, a day to yourself wouldn’t be complete without a yummy lunch. Blue Door Farm Stand is a farm-to-table restaurant that serves delicious American comfort food. They open by 11am everyday, so you can grab a delicious lunch or brunch any day of the week. Do yourself a favor and grab a cranberry mimosa while you’re there, too! Another favorite in the neighborhood is Summer House Santa Monica— you can’t go wrong either way.
